Human Rights Education Program Introductory Meeting was Held

The Human Rights Training Program, which will be carried out in cooperation with our Institution and Maltepe University, and the beneficiaries of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Family and Social Services, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Health, will start on May 11, 2022.

Before the training program, a press conference was held with the participation of our Chairman Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kılıç, Deputy Director of Maltepe University Human Rights Research Center Prof. Dr. Sevgi Şahintürk, the Board Member Dilek Ertürk, and representatives of relevant Institutions.

Speaking at the meeting, our Chairman Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kılıç said that since the day they took office, they have been working hard to improve the perception of human rights in the society, and that they have signed cooperation protocols with many national and international institutions and organizations, one of their main stakeholders, and Maltepe University is one of them. In this context, taking into account the institutional capacity of Maltepe University in the field of human rights, Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kılıç, has thanked the Rector Prof. Dr. Şahin Karasar, Maltepe University Human Rights Research and Application Center Director Prof. Dr. Ioanna Kuçuradi and all stakeholders.

The first phase of the training covers 1500 personnel from five ministries.

Expressing that training will be given to the staff of General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses and Members of the Monitoring Board within the Ministry of Justice, experts and other personnel from the Ministry of Family and Social Services, Members of Provincial Human Rights Boards and law enforcement officers from the Ministry of Interior, teachers providing human rights training from the Ministry of National Education, and doctors and other health personnel from the Ministry of Health, Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kılıç emphasized that 1500 people will benefit from the training.

The training will be held online due to the pandemic.

Expressing that the trainings will be held online due to the pandemic conditions we are in, Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kılıç continued his words as follows:

“In 2023, our trainings for other institutions, including members of the media, will continue at full speed. Currently, we have planned that 1500 people will benefit from the training, but this number will increase as time progresses, because we see that there is a great interest in this field from both public institutions and organizations and our other stakeholders.”

Maltepe University Human Rights Research and Application Center Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Sevgi Şahintürk, on the other hand, said, “We are very happy to realize such a cooperation with the efforts of our Honorable Chairman Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kılıç. As Maltepe University Human Rights Research Center, we would like to contribute as much as we can. Thank you very much."
