International Cooperation

Within the scope of the Law No: 6701 on the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey, the Duties of the Institution titled Article 9, paragraph one, subparagraph (m), the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey mandated with; “Following and assessing international developments in areas of human rights and non-discrimination, cooperating with international organizations working in the field within the framework of relevant legislation.”  

 In this context, the Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) signed by HREIT with international stakeholders in order to improve the cooperation between the institutions as follows:

  • On October 31, 2022 a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the Ombudsman of the Republic of North Macedonia in Skopje, North Macedonia.
  • On June 29, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman) in Baku, Azerbaijan.
  • On September 23, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in Antalya.
  • On February 16, 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation in İstanbul.
  • On April 8, 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the Public Defender (Ombudsman) of Georgia.
  • On May 9, 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and Bulgarian Commission for Protection against Discrimination in Sofia, Bulgaria.
  • On June 7, 2022, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the National Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
  • On February 21, 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the National Human Rights Committee (Qatar) in Doha, Qatar.
