Pursuant to subparagraph (m) of the first paragraph of Article 9 of the Law no. 6701 on Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye titled "Duties of the Institution," HREIT has the mandate and authority for "following and assessing international developments in areas of human rights and non-discrimination, cooperating with international organizations working in the field within the framework off relevant legislation."

Within this framework, Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye has signed the following memorandums of understanding with international stakeholders to improve interinstitutional cooperation:

• On March 30, 2026, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the Danish Institute for Human Rights in Geneva.
• On March 12, 2026, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and National Human Rights Council (Conseil National des Droits de l'Homme) of Côte d'Ivoire.
• On February 25, 2025, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Banja Luka.
• On May 22, 2024, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the Ombudsman of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Defensoría Del Pueblo) in Ankara.
• On February 21, 2023, A memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and National Human Rights Committee of Qatar in Doha, Qatar.
• On October 31, 2022, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and Ombudsman of the Republic of North Macedonia in Skopje, North Macedonia.
• On June 7, 2022, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. 
• On May 9, 2022, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and Bulgarian Commission for Protection against Discrimination in Sofia, Bulgaria.
• On April 8, 2022, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and Public Defender (Ombudsman) of Georgia to define the framework of cooperation and facilitate such cooperation.
• On February 16, 2022, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul.
• On September 23, 2021, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in Antalya.
• On June 29, 2021, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku, Azerbaijan.
