International Cooperation

Within the scope of the Law No: 6701 on the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey, the Duties of the Institution titled Article 9, paragraph one, subparagraph (m), the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey mandated with; “Following and assessing international developments in areas of human rights and non-discrimination, cooperating with international organizations working in the field within the framework of relevant legislation.”  

 In this context, the Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) signed by TIHEK with international stakeholders in order to improve the cooperation between the institutions as follows:

  • On October 7, 2019, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey and the National Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
  • On June 29, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey and the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman) in Baku, Azerbaijan.
  • On September 23, 2021, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey and the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in Antalya.
  • On February 16, 2022, Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye and the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in İstanbul.
