Participation in the Round Table Meeting Held within the scope of the Project on "Enhancing the Disciplinary and Reward Procedures for Prisoners in Türkiye."

A round table meeting was held in Ankara on 18-19 January 2024 within the scope of the Project "Enhancing the Disciplinary and Reward Procedures for Prisoners in Türkiye", carried out with the technical support of the General Directorate of Prisons and Detention Houses and the Council of Europe. At the meeting, draft amendment proposals to legislation regulating disciplinary sanctions and reward practices for prisoners in Türkiye were presented with the main findings of the Project's Basic Research. Furthermore, representatives from Spain, Ireland, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands presented international best practices regarding the effective implementation of discipline and reward mechanisms.  
On behalf of the HREIT, Human Rights and Equality Experts attended the meeting. The participants shared their final comments and suggestions regarding the proposed amendments to the current legislation.
