Headed by the Board Members Atty. Zennure Ber and Mehmet Emin Genç, HREIT Delegation visited detention centers in Bayburt.

On the first day, the HREIT Delegation visited Bayburt Deputy Governor Burak Çimşir, Chief Public Prosecutor Huzeyfe Yücedağ and Bayburt University Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen. Then, as part of the national prevent mechanism mandate; an unannounced visit was made to the Memnune Evsen Nursing Home, Elderly Care and Rehabilitation Center. The delegation received information from Deputy Director Murat Köse and examined the accommodation conditions on site; conducted interviews with nursing home residents.

On the second day, a visit was made to Bayburt M Type Closed Penitentiary Institution. Detailed information about the Institution was received from the Deputy Director Osman Kalkan.

Within the context of both visits, ‘Situations relating to the physical conditions of the institutions, the situation of vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and the child kept with the mother, the treatment to the detainees, the health services and the measures taken for the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccination studies, nutritional conditions, social activities, daily life and communication with the external world’ were examined in the context of international standards, and; one-on-one interviews were held with people deprived of their liberty.

As a result of the visits, reports containing the assessments and recommendations regarding the examinations and interviews will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
