HREIT Board Member Mehmet ALTUNTAŞ and the accompanying delegation made an unannounced visit to Rize Open Prison on August 28, 2019 within the scope of national preventive mechanism mandate. HREIT delegation had made a follow-up visit to Rize Kalkandere Type L Closed Penitentiary Institution in 2018. During the second visit, HREIT delegation got information from the Penitentiary Institution officials about the progress made on the issues detected previous year. Within this context, inmates and detainees were interviewed.
