Headed by The Board Member Atty. Melahat DEMİR, the HREIT Delegation conducted an unannounced visit to Akyurt Removal Center as part of its National Preventive Mechanism mandate on October 27, 2026.

During the visit, information was first obtained from the authority of the center. Afterwards, the delegation made observations and examinations by interviewing those who are deprived of their liberties and the personnel in charge. As part of the visit, treatment and accommodation conditions of detainees were examined in the context of national and international standards.

As a result of the visit and interviews, a report containing the findings and recommendations regarding the examinations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
