Parliamentary Investigation Commission which was established to investigate the incidents at schools in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş along with the risks and negative effects children face in digital spaces, develop solution proposals, and identify measures to be taken to prevent similar incidents convened on 4 August 2026.
Representing our Institution, HREIT Deputy President Muhammet Ecevit Carti and Board Member Tayyip Uçar participated the Commission meeting. During the meeting, HREIT Deputy President Muhammet Ecevit Carti, Ombudsperson Fatma Benli Yalçın and Vice President of the Personal Data Protection Authority Cihan Kanlıgöz made presentations.
In the presentation, bullying and cyberbullying, risks children face in digital environments, incidents at schools, application and complaints mechanisms and solution proposals in addition to measures which can be taken to prevent similar incidents were addressed.
In his presentation, HREIT Deputy President Muhammet Ecevit Carti emphasized the necessity of effectively fulfilling obligations regarding protection and realization of children's rights in digital spaces. Furthermore, Carti also emphasized the importance of an approach that recognizes children as subjects of rights, strengthens participation mechanisms, increases awareness of children's rights, and promotes rights-based digital environments and practices.
The meeting ended after commission members shared their questions, opinions, and advices regarding the presentations.
