A delegation of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye conducted an unannounced visit to Afyonkarahisar Women’s Open Penitentiary Institution on 17 December 2025 within the scope of its duties as the National Preventive Mechanism.
During the visit, initial information was obtained from the Institution's administration. Subsequently, the delegation carried out on-site observations and examinations through interviews with persons deprived of their liberty as well as with the staff of the institution.
Within the framework of the visit, the treatment and accommodation conditions of detainees were assessed in light of relevant national legislation and international human rights standards. Following the observations and interviews conducted during the visit, a report containing the findings and recommendations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
