A delegation of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye, headed by Board Member Dr. Ömer Çelen, conducted an unannounced visit to the detention facilities of the Serdivan District Police Department on August 17, 2026, within the scope of its duties as the National Preventive Mechanism.

During the visit, necessary information and documents were first obtained from the competent authorities of the institution. The quality of treatment toward the persons deprived of their liberty and their accommodation conditions were examined in line with national and international normative frameworks. Based on the examinations conducted during the visit, a report containing the findings and recommendations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.

Board Member Çelen paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Sakarya, Rahmi Doğan and Chief Public Prosecutor of Sakarya, Hasan Uğurlu.
