A meeting was held between the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye (HREIT) to share information on procedures and principles of application to the Institution, the examinations of violations related to the prohibition of discrimination on the ground of disability, and the work carried out in the field, as well as to improve cooperation between two institutions.

Our Institution's activities within the scope of prohibition of discrimination on the ground of disability was shared during the meeting. In this context, detailed information was shared regarding annual and thematic reports prepared, symposiums, workshops, panels and training sessions organized, publications aimed at increasing social awareness (books, guides and brochures, etc.), and the meeting of the Advisory Commission on Combating Discrimination and Equality.

In addition, the application procedures and principles to the Institution, the method of examining allegations of discrimination on the ground of disability, types of decisions, and exemplary decisions were discussed in detail. Furthermore, mutual consultations were held within the scope of the Independent Monitoring Mechanism mandate assigned pursuant to Article 33 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
