The HREIT Delegation conducted an unannounced visit to Çorum Sungurlu T Type Closed Penitentiary Institution as part of its national preventive mechanism mandate on 7 May, 2026.

During the visit, information was first obtained from the authorities of the Institution. Afterwards, the delegation made observations and examinations by interviewing those who are deprived of their liberty and the personnel in charge. As part of the visit, the treatment and accommodation conditions of detainees were examined in the context of national and international standards.

As a result of the visit and interviews, a report containing the findings and recommendations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
