The HREIT Delegation, headed by the Board Member Atty. Selami Açan conducted an unannounced visit to conducted an unannounced visit to Diyarbakır No.2 T-Type Closed Penitentiary Institution as part of its national preventive mechanism mandate on 13-14 October, 2026.

During the visit, information was first obtained from the authority of the center. Then, observations and examinations were made and interviews were held with the detainees and the personnel in charge.

As part of the visit, treatment and accommodation conditions of detainees were examined in the light of national and international standards. A report containing the findings, observations obtained during the visit and interviews and recommendations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.

Apart from the visit carried out by the delegation within the scope of the National Prevention Mechanism, a visit was also made to the Governor of Diyarbakır, Mr. Murat Zorluoğlu.
