The HREIT Delegation, headed by the Board Member Atty. Av. Selami Açan conducted an unannounced follow-up visit to Diyarbakır courthouse prisoner waiting area as part of its national preventive mechanism mandate on October 15, 2026.

During the visit, information was first obtained from the authority of the center. Afterwards the delegation made observations and examinations by interviewing those who are deprived of their liberties and the personnel in charge.

As part of the visit, treatment and accommodation conditions of detainees were examined in the light of national and international standards. A report containing the findings, observations obtained during the visit and interviews and recommendations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.

In addition to the visit within the scope of the National Prevention Mechanism, Board Member also paid courtesy visit to the Chief Public Prosecutor of Diyarbakır, Erdal Kuruçay.
