A delegation of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye, headed by Board Member Tayyip Uçar, conducted an unannounced visit to Afyonkarahisar No. 2 T-Type Closed Penitentiary Institution on 15–16 December 2025, within the scope of its duties as the National Preventive Mechanism.

During the visit, the delegation first received information from the institution’s administration. Subsequently, on-site observations and examinations were carried out through interviews with persons deprived of their liberty as well as with the personnel on duty.

Within the framework of the visit, the treatment and accommodation conditions of detainees were assessed in light of national and international standards. Based on the observations and interviews conducted, a report containing the findings and recommendations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
Following the visit to the institution, the Board Member paid courtesy visits to Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karakaş, Rector of Afyon Kocatepe University, Mehmet Patlak, Chief Public Prosecutor of Afyonkarahisar, and Prof. Dr. Adem Aslan, Rector of Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University.
