The HREIT delegation conducted an unannounced visit to Marmaris District Gendarmerie Command and Çetibeli Gendarmerie Station Command Detention Rooms as part of its National Preventive Mechanism mandate.

During the visit, information was first obtained from the authorities in charge. Afterwards the delegation made observations and examinations by interviewing with detainees and the personnel. As part of the visit, treatment and accomodation conditions of the detainees were examined in the context of national and international standards.

As a result of the visit and interviews, a report containing the findings and recommendations will be prepared and shared with the relevant institutions and the public.
