Press Release on Increasing Islamophobic Acts
Press Release on Increasing Islamophobic Acts
27.01.2023
A- A+

After the act of the leader of the far-right Hard Line Party (Stram Kurs) in Sweden burning the Holy Quran in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm, it was also reported in the media that the same person will also burn the Holy Quran in front of a mosque in Dortheavej, Copenhagen.

Defending hatred based on religion, ethnicity or race in the shape of inciting discrimination and hatred is incompatible with fundamental human rights principles. Such archaic and fascist discourses and acts targeting human dignity and sacred values incite xenophobia and marginalization in democratic societies based on pluralism.

The news reflected in the media point up that Islamophobia has reached a level of hostility which transforms into a radical discriminatory attitude in different areas of life such as education, employment, media, and politics to light in addition to showing that hatred-driven acts have reached concerning levels. We expect the concerned authorities to act immediately to take appropriate measures against the fascist attacks which endanger Muslim persons' right to security and to show the necessary effort to establish global and social peace.

Our Institution, main mission of which is to protect and promote human rights, guaranteeing individuals’ right to equal treatment, prevention of discrimination in the exercise of legally recognized rights and freedoms, is following the relevant news reflected in the press with concern.

Respectfully announced to the public.
